Dudh Puli Pithey is a sweet from the state of Bengal, they make it during Poush Sankranti which falls in the month of January on the 14th of that month, Sankranti is a harvest festival, it is also celebrated in different Indian states.
The freshly harvested paddy along with the date palm syrup in the form of Khejurer Gur and Patali Gur is used in the preparation of a variety of traditional Bengali sweets made with rice flour, coconut, milk and 'khejurer gur' (date palm jaggery) and known as 'Pithey'.
We got some of these divine dumplings from a place in Chitranjan Park, Delhi. The shop is named 'Kamala Sweets', it is near CR Park market 1. They are only available for a short period from Jan-Feb, so go grab them, before they are gone. If you like Bengali sweets, then you have to try this.
